Biographies

President

Julie Crea

Julie is director of administrative auxiliary services at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.  Her responsibilities include events/conferencing, campus ID card operations, electronic door access, the campus wide employee training program, commencement, Student Union, childcare, and tennis center.  Additionally, she is the contract liaison for the bookstore and food service.

She has served on the West board since 2008, starting as the technology and communications coordinator, serving as secretary for one year, and now as president.  Her education includes an associate’s in business management, bachelor’s in psychology, and a master’s in public administration.  She is currently pursuing her PhD in political science.

In addition to being active in NACAS, Julie is an active member of the Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador and volunteers in her community.  Julie has three children that keep her and her husband entertained and busy with outdoor activities and sports.

Vice President

Deborah Huebler

Deborah Huebler is the director of campus services for the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She is responsible for non-academic support programs including campus mail services, campus solutions, commuter and fleet services, conference and event services, food services, public safety, university housing, and the University of Hawai‘i system bookstores.

Deborah has been with the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa since 2008. Prior to that, Deborah was the vice president of development and planned giving at Aloha United Way. She earned her B.S. in management from Arizona State University and graduated with honors from the public administration master’s program at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Deborah is a strong believer in community service and is on the board of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hawaii and the Japanese Women’s Society Foundation. She enjoys zombie fiction, especially AMC’s “The Walking Dead” series, and dreams of home renovation projects; but her favorite entertainment is spending time with husband Alfie and their furbaby family: cats Gigi, Lambert, Munches, and Orange Cat, and puppies Kuma and Vegas.

Secretary

Melinda Alonzo

Melinda is director of parking and transit services, part of auxiliary business services at Arizona State University.  The program serves over 83,000 students across five unique campuses.  The Arizona native began her career with San Diego-based Ace Parking Management, Inc. before joining ASU in 1999 as an Events Coordinator. She was appointed director in 2011.

Melinda earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona. She is a regular member of the International Parking Institute (IPI), holds a seat on IPI’s CAPP certification board and is a founding member of the Southwest Parking and Transportation Association, serving as President from 2005-2006.

Melinda also serves as Vice President of the University Club’s board of advisors. She attended her first NACAS event at the national convention in Montreal in 2014.  Wanting to become more involved, she recently joined the NACAS West board as secretary.

Melinda is passionate about delivering excellent service to ensure student success.  She believes that integrating the best technology possible to engage with the millennial generation has become a strong component of that, however, university departments working together is critical.

Treasurer

Jana Faro

Jana is the current director of facilities and technology for the housing auxiliaries at Arizona State University, overseeing 14,800 beds across 5 different campuses. In addition, she oversees facilities maintenance and public-private relationships, occupancy management, systems & data, IT, customer service and communications and administration. Jana joined ASU in early 2016 from Portland, OR, previously working in corporate real estate as a mixed-use, multi-family development associate.

Jana has a bachelors degree in studio art from the University of Redlands, as well as a masters of science in higher education administration from Syracuse University and an MBA in real estate development from Portland State University. Aside from being entrenched in all things real estate and operations, she enjoys hiking with her two pups and living the desert life.

Past President

Frank Mumford

Frank Mumford started his tenure as executive director of ASC in 2011. As executive director, he oversees a corporation with more than 750 employees and annual revenues in excess of $60 million per year. Frank joined the ASC in 2007 as its chief fiscal officer, bringing over 30 years of experience in finance and administration.

Prior to joining the ASC, Frank held similar administrative positions at the Cal Poly Corporation in San Luis Obispo for eight years. Before becoming involved with CSU auxiliaries, Frank was the assistant vice president for finance and director of budget planning at the University of Cincinnati. Since graduating from Eastern Illinois University, Frank has held a number of progressively responsible management positions with universities and private sector firms.

Frank has been an active member of statewide, regional and national higher education associations. He has held senior positions in the CSU Auxiliary Organizations Association, the California State University Risk Management Authority, and the western region of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS). He has served as president of NACAS, is currently the president of NACAS Education Foundation and is the 2012 recipient of their Newton Award for Distinguished Service.

Coordinator: Technology

Jeff Rensel

Jeff Rensel is currently the associate director of the Memorial Union at Arizona State University (ASU). He is responsible for the overall facilities and operations of the student union, including event and meeting services, the Sparky’s Den Recreation Center, the information desk, and student employment. Jeff serves as the operational contact for contracted food services and custodial services and leads all sustainability efforts within the facility.

Jeff has been with Arizona State University since 2001. Prior to that, he served as an assistant hall director and conference manager at Northern Arizona University (NAU) and earned his B.S. in biology education and graduated with honors from the educational leadership master’s program at NAU.

Jeff is an active member in ACUI, and in addition to his university roles, is a professional mobile DJ, emcee, and country line dance instructor.  He believes in authentic leadership and strives to create a positive and productive work environment. He enjoys helping people feel welcomed, connected, and engaged.

Jeff is a Washington native and an avid runner, obstacle course racer, hiker, and movie goer. He and his wife Jaime live in Phoenix with their three dogs (Alvin, Puppy, and Pierce).

Jill Wiegert

Jill Wiegert is the director of the student union at Fort Lewis College, in Durango, Colorado.  Her responsibilities include overseeing facilities scheduling, student union operations management, campus ID operations – including door access, campus post office, bookstore, food service operations, and campus vending contracts.

Jill received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Fort Lewis College and began her career with her alma mater immediately.  She has worked in various positions on campus for 28 years. She served as the assistant director of the student union for 12 years before being promoted to student union director in 2015.  Jill’s passion was realized when she was fortunate enough to be integrated with the planning and project management of their student union renovation and addition project, which concluded in 2011.  

She has been a member of NACAS for 12 years and currently serves on the NACAS membership committee as vice chair and as the NACAS West region membership coordinator.  She earned her CASP in 2014.  She believes in servant leadership and mentors her staff to embrace it as well.  Jill enjoys the outdoor lifestyle Durango has to offer and has recently adjusted to her empty nest with her triplets leaving home to further their education.

Jennifer Gray

Jennifer Gray is the director of student affairs communications and business partner relations at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She manages the division’s contracts and leases, providing daily management for contracts with the university bookstore, dining services and housing operations. In addition, she manages divisional branding and communication to enhance understanding of student affairs’ overall value and contributions toward the university’s mission.  She has been an active member of NACAS and NACAS West since 2013, serving on the awards committee.

Jennifer has been with UNLV since 2006. Prior, she served as assistant director for housing & residential life at Pace University in New York City, and as assistant director for housing administration at UNLV. With a background in residential life, housing administration and student conduct, Jennifer has built a strong foundation in setting standards, developing policy and procedure, and creating frameworks within which her team works collaboratively and effectively.  Her student development focus and enthusiasm for procedural and administrative design offers an energetic, tenacious and reliable dynamic in working with campus business partners.

She earned her master’s degree in higher education and student affairs administration from The Ohio State University, and her bachelor’s degree in political science from West Virginia University.  Jennifer is an avid music and film lover and teaches yoga and dance part time in the Las Vegas Valley.

Andrea Zelinko

Andrea is the Director of the University Memorial Center at the University of Colorado Boulder.  In this role, she oversees the student union’s facilities, business and payroll, scheduling, games area, and IT and marketing departments.  During her time at CU Boulder, she has overseen the campus’ safe ride program and the student union’s assessment efforts.

Prior to working for CU Boulder, Andrea worked for 10 years with college campuses on a variety of health and prevention issues through the non-profit The BACCHUS Network.  She received her bachelors in literatures in English from the University of California San Diego and her masters in student affairs and higher education from Colorado State University.

West Region Representative

Jared Ceja

Jared Ceja is currently the director of stores at the Long Beach State 49er Shops.  His responsibilities include the university bookstore, university art store, campus copy center, ID card services, off-campus retail, trademark/licensing, and the computer store. Jared joined CSU Long Beach in 2015 after nearly seven years as the auxiliary services director at Chaffey College and four years as the bookstore manager at Santa Ana College.

Prior to working in education, Jared held positions in corporate retail, banking, and food services.  His education includes a master’s in business administration from the University of Redlands, bachelor’s in business economics from UC Santa Barbara, and associate’s in social & behavioral sciences from Citrus College.

Jared’s involvement in NACAS has included service as the West president, West conferences chair, the community college task force chair, and other national and regional roles. In addition, he is an active member of the bookstore community.  Jared has served on numerous industry committees and presented education sessions at CAMEX and CACS.

Jared is a Southern California native and avid traveler.  He and his wife (high school sweethearts) have set a goal to visit all 50 states toting their two children along for the fun.

At-large Member: Business Partner Liason

Jeff Davis

Jeff is the current executive director for auxiliary services, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He has been at UCCS since 1990 and has been the assistant director for operations and the director of the university center, and moved to the current position in November, 2011.  His duties include full responsibility for operations, custodial, maintenance, grounds, and construction for all auxiliary facilities.

Jeff is a graduate of Western Washington University with a BA  in recreation and park management and has an MS from Western Illinois University in recreation and park administration.
